Seeks identity cards and interest-free loans to tenant farmers

Amaravati: All India Kisan Sabha national vice-president Ravula Venkaiah, State wing president P Ramachandraiah and secretary KVV Prasad said that they would conduct agitations demanding that the government should solve the problems of farmers.

Speaking to the media persons here on Wednesday, they announced their support to nationwide three-day agitation call given by Communist Party of India (CPI) from July 24.

Before the nationwide agitation, the Sabha would conduct round-table meetings and other awareness programmes across the State, they said.

The Kisan Sabha leaders said that already they have discussed on the importance of recommendations of Swaminathan Commission in the recent State-level meetings. They requested the government to provide minimum support price to all crops.

The State government should purchase the produce directly from farmers. The loan waiver benefit should be provided to farmers at one time, they appealed. They asked the government to issue identity cards to all tenant farmers and provide interest free loans.

Pension should be given to farmers who crossed 60 years. The Kisan Sabha leaders opposed amendments to Land Acquisition Act.
