Red sanders worth Rupees 1 crore seized
Venkatagiri police reportedly apprehended four red sander smugglers and seized 29 logs of ‘A-1’ grade red sanders worth Rs one crore in the wee hours on Sunday on the Rapur-Penchalakona Road.
Nellore: Venkatagiri police reportedly apprehended four red sander smugglers and seized 29 logs of ‘A-1’ grade red sanders worth Rs one crore in the wee hours on Sunday on the Rapur-Penchalakona Road.
According to sources, reacting on a tip-off, Venkatagiri police conducted searches on Rapur-Penchalakona road. Police reportedly observed some smugglers who were ready to transport red sander logs of top quality from Rapur forest area to other parts. Smugglers had dumped the red sanders logs three days ago after cutting them.
Two of the smugglers went for boozing in Rapur area on a motorbike and Rapur police suspected their movement during their regular checks.
They had tried to stop their motorbike but the smugglers escaped and finally police personnel nabbed them and interrogated them.
