She was performing at the Rayavarapu Sanjeevarao Memorial concert held at Venugopalaswamy temple here on Saturday under the aegis of the Sangameshwara Sangeeta Samakhya.

Pithapuram: Renowned flautist Dr Jayaprada Ramamurthy transported audience to the spiritual world with her sonorous rendering of even the most difficult notes on her winged instrument with dexterity. She was performing at the Rayavarapu Sanjeevarao Memorial concert held at Venugopalaswamy temple here on Saturday under the aegis of the Sangameshwara Sangeeta Samakhya.

The music lovers silently admired her performance right from the word go till the end. The concert kicked off with ‘Vatapi Ganapatimbhaje’ (Hamsadhwani Raga). She played kirtans of several saint composers like Thyagayya and Annamacharya. Rendering of ‘Samajavaragamana’ in Hindola Raga and ‘Nagumomu’ in Abheri drew loud applause from the audience. An air of spirituality prevailed at the venue of the concert.

She was accompanied by Kokkonda Subrahmanya Sarma of Angara on violin, Mandapaka Ravi of Vizianagaram on mridangam and KVSN Murthy of Pallipalem on kanjeera.

On behalf of the Sangameshwara Sangeeta Samakhya, Dr Pantam Padmasri honoured Jayaprada with Sangameshwara Sastry Honorary Puraskaram.

Earlier, music concert by Satyalakshmi of Kakinada enthralled audience. Samakhya secretary Akondi Madhusudhan, temple priest Vijaya Janardhanacharyulu and prominent persons of the town took part in the concert.
