Sri Kanaka Durga temple on Indrakeeladri witnessed heavy rush on Wednesday as more than 1.50 lakh devotees thronged the temple for the Darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga on the Seventh Day of Dasara celebrations. After two days of poor attendance on Monday and Tuesday, the devotees thronged the temple on the auspicious day of Moola Nakshatram on Wednesday. 

Sri Kanaka Durga temple on Indrakeeladri witnessed heavy rush on Wednesday as more than 1.50 lakh devotees thronged the temple for the Darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga on the Seventh Day of Dasara celebrations. After two days of poor attendance on Monday and Tuesday, the devotees thronged the temple on the auspicious day of Moola Nakshatram on Wednesday.

The temple authorities along with the district administration made elaborate arrangements for the Darshan of nearly two lakh devotees. Presiding Deity was adorned as Sri Saraswati Devi known for education, wisdom and knowledge.

Devotees began visiting the temple since 1 20am Post midnight and the rush increased steadily by 6 am. By the afternoon, more than 70,000 devotees had a Darshan and the figure crossed by one lakh in the evening. VIP Darshan was cancelled on Wednesday in view of heavy rush. The officials announced the cancellation of VIP darshan two days ago.

The temple administration operated special buses to the Indrakeeladri hill and arranged several thousand drinking water packets along the queue lines for the convenience of devotees. The authorities have drafted several hundred volunteers mostly college students to supply drinking water packets from morning to night.

Medical teams arranged near the toll gate as well as on Indrakeeladri rendered medical services to devotees that needed it. Water resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, MP Kesineni Srinivas, district collector B Lakshmikantham and officials of endowment, revenue and police supervised the arrangements and queue lines in the morning. Devotees stood for three hours in the queues for the Darshan as queue lines passed slowly.

Heavy security was posted since the early hours of the day in view of the visit of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for presenting the silk robes to the Goddess on behalf of the State Government as part of the tradition. Commissioner of police D Gautam Sawang, DCP Law and Order Kanti Rana Tata, West ACP G Ramakrishna and other officials supervised the security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident.
