Rajamahendravaram: The government will announce its policy on electricity bills relating to nurseries in a fortnight.

This announcement made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu when the nursery growers submitted a memorandum to him in Amaravati on Wednesday on their woes relating to electricity bills under the aegis of Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary.

According to Buchaiah Chowdary, the Chief Minister responded positively on the problems of nursery growers and assured to sort out them after discussing with Horticulture department commissioner and Transco officials.

There are as many as 1,200 electricity connections in agriculture sector. However, the nursery growers alleging that Transco officials are insisting on paying electricity bills, he said and added that the Telugu Desam government was keen to develop nurseries in Kadiyam mandal, which were recognised across the country. Moreover, thousands of people have been getting livelihood by working in these nurseries, he added.

Indian Nursery Association president Palla Subramanyam, Kadiyam Nursery Association president Pulla Chanti, TDP leaders G Satyanarayana and ML Satyanarayana were present.
