The government has made all the arrangements to kick-start a novel and much potential-laden placement programmes Drone Pilot (DP) and Drone Data Processor (DDP) in Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam: The government has made all the arrangements to kick-start a novel and much potential-laden placement programmes Drone Pilot (DP) and Drone Data Processor (DDP) in Visakhapatnam. Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country to launch two such technical programmes in drone technology. Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Andhra Pradesh Innovative Society (APIS) jointly lead the programmes.

Drone Manufacturing Company is expected to start its operations shortly, following the directions of the Minister for Information Technology Nara Lokesh, the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation drafted three-month long residential programmes. The APSSDC drafted its own the syllabus for the two programmes. The eligibility for admission into the programmes is BE/B Tech in software or mechanical or MBA having interest in drone operations and technology.

The first Drones Manufacturing Company had made its all arrangements to commence operations here at APIS incubation centre located at Rushikonda IT-SEZ. The APIS is promoting the unit with its own funds initially. The unit will produce 25 drones per month in the first phase. The project was designed on self-sustainable hub clubbing with Reverse Engineering Research and Development Laboratory, Image and Video analytical centres.

Even while not commencing the operations of the unit, the APIS has registering excellent market response from various establishments for supply of drones. The APIS inked an MoU with New Delhi based company as a knowledge partner and setting up the unit. The state government was decided to utilise drone services and promote at maximum extent in the fields of Agriculture, Tourism, Land Administration, Police, Fire, Forest and Disaster Management and also in various government and public programmes. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to train the youth for operating the drones and to analyse the data collecting from the drones.

“There is a good response from the market for drones. We have already received orders from some institutions. We are assessing that there will be huge demand in the near future for drones for various applications. Some special apps also will be added to the APIS brand drones. The employment opportunities will also come in a big number in the near future,” V Valli Kumari, Chief Executive Officer of Andhra Pradesh Innovative Society said.
