Misdeeds in contract resident teachers recruitment alleged
Tribal Unions across Sitampeta Agency alleged irregularities in recruitment of contract resident teachers (CRT) in tribal welfare schools situated in both schedule and non-schedule areas. Total posts in schedule area are 36 and in non-schedule are 103.
Srikakulam: Tribal Unions across Sitampeta Agency alleged irregularities in recruitment of contract resident teachers (CRT) in tribal welfare schools situated in both schedule and non-schedule areas. Total posts in schedule area are 36 and in non-schedule are 103.
The ITDA officials filled the 103 posts for schools situated in non-schedule area as per general reservation rule through which only seven tribal candidates have been selected as CRTs and rest of the posts filled by other candidates.
But the tribal unions are demanding that the government fill all the posts even in non-schedule area also with the tribal candidates alone. After the release of CRTs results, the representatives of the union launched agitation on Tuesday. They called for students and their parents to participate in the agitation to achieve their rights.
In the wake of the agitation, students reached their homes from schools and hostels in Tekkali, Saravakota, Pathapatnam, Nandigam, Palasa, Mandasa, Meliaputti and other mandals.
“The government need to change recruitment rules for tribal schools in non-schedule areas and provide opportunities to tribal candidates”, demanded YSRCP Palakonda MLA V Kalavathi.
“The government and officials are not implementing reservations to STs for recruitment of posts in non-scheduled areas”, tribal union leader V Madhava Rao opined.
Tribal students and their parents understood injustice meted out to them and they are leaving schools and hostels voluntarily to exert pressure on the government, explained district president for Adivasi Samkshema Parishath V Yogi.
“Tribal candidates lost their chances in CRT selections due to violation of roaster rules”, Tribal Students Union district president Bhanuchandar echoed the same. “We followed the government rules in filling up of CRT posts and no irregularities occurred at any level,” Sitampeta ITDA project officer L Shiva Sankar said.
