Tirupati: Nagari MLA RK Roja began 80-km padayatra, on the sidelines of her party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s marathon walk, demanding the State government for early completion of Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi (GNSS) Project. The MLA began the walkathon at Adavikothuru village six km away from Nagari on Tuesday, which will end at Tirumala.
On this occasion, she slammed the TDP government for its step motherly attitude towards the projects in the district. Roja said former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao has first issued a GO for the GNSS Project in 1988 and YS Rajasekhara Reddy had laid the foundation stone in 2004 after he became the Chief Minister. But, Chandrababu Naidu was not showing any interest in completing the project which can provide assured water to 2.66 lakh acres.
After raising the issue on several occasions in the Assembly, Roja said she was disappointed with the non-responsive attitude of the Chief Minister and his government. Hence, instead of asking the Chief Minister, she thought it better to pray Lord Venkateswara to change the mindset of the Chief Minister and complete the project on fast track basis.
She alleged that the Chandrababu was more interested in admitting the legislators from other parties than allocating funds for the projects. She did not spare MLC G Muddukrishnama Naidu and attacked him also by saying that ‘he takes credit for every work’. “He came into politics along with NT Rama Rao. Then, why don’t he take initiative and get funds for Galeru-Nagari,” questioned Roja.
Party senior leader Dharmana Prasada Rao also criticised the Chief Minister for luring the opposition party legislators financially and making them to join the ruling party which is unconstitutional. After bifurcation, the State was in huge debts. Still, the Chief Minister has brought Rs 1.8 lakh crore as loans.
He did not achieve anything by bringing loans except burdening the people, Dharmana said. The YSRCP senior leaders Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Narayana Swamy and party cadre took part at the beginning of the padayatra.
