Bandh evoked good response in  Guntur district. All the government offices,  banks, insurance companies and BSNL offices  remained closed.  Schools and colleges declared holiday while theatres suspended morning  shows.  RTC buses  were off  the road. Even private  city buses did not  ply in the city.

Hotels and tea stalls were also closed in the city. CPI state assistant secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao, CPI district secretary Jangala Ajay Kumar, city secretary Kota Malyadri, YSRCP city president Lella Appi Reddy, former MLC KS Lakshmana Rao, CPM district secretary Pasam Rama Rao stopped the buses and raised slogans against the Centre rendering injustice to the state.

Later, took out a rally to Dr BR Ambedkar statue. Addressing a gathering, CPI state assistant secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao demanded that the Centre allocate more funds to the state.

He further stated that the Centre disappointed the people by allocating funds for the construction of the capital city. He warned that the voters will teach a lesson to the BJP government in the ensuing elections. Holding placards they raised slogans against the government.
