An all-party round-table meeting organised here on Friday under the banner of the CPM, demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. The round-table meet has stressed the need of all political parties and their affiliated organisations, and all sections of people voluntarily participating in the agitation for achieving SCS to Andhra Pradesh.
Kadapa: An all-party round-table meeting organised here on Friday under the banner of the CPM, demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. The round-table meet has stressed the need of all political parties and their affiliated organisations, and all sections of people voluntarily participating in the agitation for achieving SCS to Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting also decided to intensify the stir and motivating the public so that they can voluntarily participate in the movement for the SCS. Speaking the occasion, Rayachoti YSRCP MLA G Srikanth Reddy has alleged that the TD government has failed miserably in convincing the Prime Minister over granting SCS to AP.
Instead, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had accepted the proposal of special package offered by the BJP-led NDA government, he slammed. The YSRCP MLA demanded that the TDP should break alliance with the BJP if it is committed in achieving SCS to the state. He gave a call to the TDP to join hands with the political parties for exerting pressure on the central government for special status.
Reddy made it clear that the YSRCP will extend support to the CPM if the latter takes up agitation for special status. Congress city president B Jakaraiah has stated that all political parties except CPM. Rayalaseema Sadhana Samithi (RSS) president A Venkata Reddy has mentioned that severe injustice was done to the Rayalaseema region for the last several decades.
CPI district secretary G Eswaraiah recalled that his party was relentlessly leading the agitations for the fulfilment of the assurances mentioned in the AP Reorganising Act. CPM district secretary V Anjayaneyulu said it will not possible to achieve the SCS to AP unless all political parties join hands for a single cause. CPM state leader B Narayana, who presided over the meeting, said all political parties should organise the camps at grass-roots level to motivate the people over the issue. Rythu Sangam district secretary B Dastagiri Reddy and others were present.
