The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress will pitch a no-confidence motion against the NDA government in Lok Sabha today.

A notice in this regard was sent by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu YSR’s YS Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded a trust vote. YV Subba Reddy of YSR Congress writing to the Lok Sabha secretariat to put his notice for the motion and TDP also moved a notice for a no-confidence motion for Monday.

A support of at least 50 Members of Parliament (MPs) is needed to admit the motion after a no-confidence motion notice is moved in the Lok Sabha. The TDP has 15 members and the YSR Congress eight with a total of 23 members in total which is less than half the numbers required.

The Left and Congress have already declared their support for the motion.

Last week, the YSR Congress was the first to give a notice for a no-trust motion following the Centre’s clarification that it would not grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

This motion is expected to attract the support of more than 200 MPs and also provide an opportunity for the opposition parties to unite in the wake of 2019 General Elections.
