Based on local requirement, industry trends of Visakhapatnam city and the thought process of the state government, Tech Mahindra Foundation, CSR arm of Tech Mahindra Limited launched a six-month certificate course in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in association with CII Institute of Logistics here on Saturday. This is a full-time training programme.

Visakhapatnam: Based on local requirement, industry trends of Visakhapatnam city and the thought process of the state government, Tech Mahindra Foundation, CSR arm of Tech Mahindra Limited launched a six-month certificate course in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in association with CII Institute of Logistics here on Saturday. This is a full-time training programme.

Launching the programme, Global Function Head-(Support) of Tech Mahindra Limited Harshavendra Soin said that after completion of the training, students would be offered internship opportunities in various organisations.

Placement assistance would be given to all those students who complete their training and internship.

Any graduate interested in building a career in Logistics and Supply Chain sector can apply for this course, Soin said. The students, who completed their training and internship in IT courses, would be given certificates, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, President of AP Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation and Managing Director of Sravan Shipping Services Private Limited G Sambasiva Rao stressed the importance of training in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Tech Mahindra Foundation was running over 100 Tech Mahindra SMART Vocational Training Centres in 12 cities offering short-term vocational courses free of cost to the unemployed youth.

Upon successful completion of the training, the youth are extended placement support in the open market.

So far, more than 50,000 unemployed youth have been trained through these SMART Centres out of which around 70 per cent have been placed since the inception of SMART Programme in Oct 2012, the foundation announced.
