Fishing boat catches fire at Kakinada harbour

Fire broke out in a mechanized fishing boat anchored at Kakinada fishing harbour on Saturday. According to sources, the incident occurred when the gas from LPB cylinder leaked while the crew of boat cooking food. Soon the fire spread to the entire area.

It is said the engine and the cabin of boat were damaged completely. Fishermen from nearby boats rushed to the spot and helped the crew in controlling the flames. According to sources, the crew members are said to be making arrangements for fishing as the 61-day fishing ban period ended by June 14. Joint director of fisheries P Jaya Rao said the loss is estimated at Rs 40 lakh.
