Thotapalli (Vizianagaram): Though the yield of mangoes is less and the cost of the fruits is very high this year, the Farmers Producers Organisation in Parvathipuram agency area is selling the fruits, which were grown and ripen in a natural manner, at a lesser price.
Organic mangoes being sold at a cheaper price
Right now, Rasalu, Banginapalli and Suvarnarekha are available in the market at Rs 150 per dozen and Rs 60 per kilogram. And most of the fruits are being ripen by using chemicals, which are hazardous for health. But the fruits lovers are purchasing them at a higher price and consuming them.
The organisation is procuring the mangoes from the members of this organisation and ripening in a natural manner and selling at a lesser price.
Dr D Pari Naidu, the founder of the FPO, said: “Mango growers are not using fertilizers and chemicals.
We collect the naturally grown mangoes from those members and ripening them in our godowns in a natural way and selling them in nearby villages and weekly bazaars at a cheaper price. Our aim is to promoting the natural farming and to habituate the people to consuming those organic mangoes. Even the consumers are happy to have those mangoes as they are tastier and in high quality”.
