SKOCH award for Lokesh
Minister for IT, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Nara Lokesh has been selected for SKOCH special award ‘Person of the year-Governance’. In a press release on Tuesday, the minister’s office said that the Lokesh has been selected for the award for his efforts to bring revolution in panchayat raj department by using technology.

The Rural Water Supply department has been selected for another three awards. Lokesh will receive the award at a programme in New Delhi on June 23. The minister has introduced GPS technology in Rural Water Supply department. “Vehicles that supply drinking water have been integrated with GPS technology so that they can be tracked.
Due to this, the department has successfully reduced irregularities in rural water supply and saved around Rs 60 crore,” an official said. Lokesh also introduced various initiatives such as establishing dashboard to know the status of engineering works in panchayat raj and rural development, Jalavani call centre and some others.
