Amaravati: The ruling TDP’s hectic political activity is going to generate heat in the state till July 4, from Friday onwards. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu plans to launch his fourth phase of Dharma Porata Deeksha in Kakinada on Friday.
The party also started mobilising the public from various towns and villages from across the state for the Saturday’s Dalita Tejam – Telugu Desam concluding meeting in Nellore. On the other hand, the ongoing protest meeting in Kadapa demanding steel plant is likely to conclude on Friday.
This protest meeting is being organised exclusively by the party MPs, to mount pressure on the Central government seeking fulfillment of promises pertaining to the AP Reorganisation Act. Another meeting by the MPs will take place on July 4 in Vizag, demanding Railway Zone for the city.
In fact, it was supposed to be organised by this month end. Due to the ongoing protest in Kadapa and indefinite hunger strike of Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh, this programme was postponed.
Chandrababu Naidu is going address the gathering at Dharma Porata Deeksha in Kakinada at around 3 pm on Friday. This is being organised by the party to increase pressure on BJP on one hand and create awareness among public on the other hand, on the failure of Central government in implementing AP Reorganisation Act and other promises including Special Category Status.
The first Dharma Porata Deeksha was organised in Vijayawada on April 20, 2018 by Chandrababu Naidu on his birthday. This was a day long fast to protest against the Centre’s attitude towards the people of the state.
Later in the same month, April 30, 2018, TDP chose the same stage at Tirupati where the then Prime Ministerial Candidate and the current prime minister Narendra Modi had promised the people Special Category Status for 10 years and help build a Capital that would out shine Delhi.
Videos of Narendra Modi speaking at the Tirupati Sabha in 2014 and laying foundation stone ceremony in Amaravati in 2016 were played at the venue reminding the Centre what it had promised to the people of the State.
The TDP and state government have been demanding Central government to fulfill the demands including; Special Category State, bridging the resource gap, Polavaram Project, formation of a Railway Zone, establishment of green field crude oil refinery & petrochemical complex, financial assistance to Amaravati, institutes of national importance, formation of Dugarajapatnam port in Nellore district, increase of seats in AP.
State Legislative Assembly, removal of anomalies in taxation matters, steel plant in Kadapa district, establishment of Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor, Vishakhapatnam and Vijayawada Metro, rapid rail and road connectivity to Amaravati, development assistance to Backward Districts, payment of power dues by Discom, apportionment of Schedule IX & X Institutions, formation of Greyhound Training Centre.
On May 22, TDP held third Dharma Porata Deeksha in Vishakhapatnam where the Chief Minister once again rallied the people of the State by raising against the failure of the Centre.
