Vijayawada: VasavyaMahilaMandali (VMM) was awarded Asia Pacific Achievers Award for the fifth time from Global Achievers Foundation (GAF) at a summit on Globalisation of Economic Growth and Social Development on Sunday at Tashkent, Uzbekistan, according to a statement from VMM.
The award was received by VMM technical support manager Dr Keerthi B, according to VMM secretary G Rashmi Samaram here on Monday. She said the award was given to VMM for its significant and relentless contributions made in the field of social development through women empowerment, child welfare and public health programmes.
She said for a Gandhian non-governmental organisation, which is celebrating its golden jubilee, this award is a feather in its cap. She said the award was received in the presence of Supra Ghosh, acting Ambassador of Embassy of India in Tashkent, Ambassador Dr VB Soni, former Diplomat/Ambassador retired from Indian Foreign Services.
