Man held for rape bid on minor

Visakhapatnam: Duvvada police arrested a 35-year-old man, who attempted to rape a minor girl, here on Tuesday.
According to police, the accused was identified as Balireddy Nagendra Kumar, a travel agent and gives his car for hire, residing at JNNURM near Mangalapalem area. The victim (14-year-old) is residing at JNNURM building, along with her other, as her father passed away seven months ago.
On Tuesday, as her mother went to collect the pension, Nagendra Kumar, on learning that that the minor girl was alone, he entered the house and tried to rape her. After the girl raised alarm, the local people rushed to the spot and handed over the accused to Duvvada police.
Later, victim mother lodged a complaint against Nagendra with Duvvada police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under POCSO Act, 354 Nirbhaya Act and arrested the accused.
