Rajamahendravaram: A boat carrying about 30 persons in I Polavaram mandal Pasuvlanka area. About 10 of the passengers are missing and the administration has launched a massive search for them.
According to preliminary reports majority of the passengers in the boat were students. It is learnt that accident took place as the boat hit an iron pillar of a bridge and turned turtle.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation and directed the revenue and other district officials to take all necessary measures to speed up rescue operations.
Inclement weather, fading light and heavy current of river Godavari is hampering the operations.
