Kurnool: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught Village Revenue Officer (VRO) T Jeji Babu red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from Subbamma at his residence in Viswa Nagar in Nandyal on Friday.

According to ACB DSP C Jayarama Raju, complainant Subbamma, a resident of U Bollavaram village in Rudravaram mandal, had approached Pedda Kambaluru VRO Jeji Babu requesting him to enter her name in the passbook in place of her husband’s name as he had expired. She wanted to transfer the 2 acres of land on to her name.

But, VRO demanded her to pay bribe to complete her work. Subbamma with the assistance of her son-in-law Ramudu lodged a complaint against the VRO. The ACB seized cash from the VRO and registered a case against him. The accused would be produced in the ACB court for further action, the DSP said.
