Rajamahendravaram: RMC Commissioner Sumit Kumar has appealed to the private hospital managements to extend their cooperation to make Rajamahendravaram a plastic-free city.

Ban on plastic usage will come into force from August 15 in the city, he said and asked the managements to avoid the usage of plastics.

The corporation was collecting 25 metric tonnes of garbage every day, and out of which, 10 metric tonnes was plastic waste. The corporation was conducting awareness meetings about plastic ban.

Briefing about the disadvantages of plastic, he said that the city would face a severe problem, if the corporation fails to curtail plastic usage.

The corporation imposes fines along with registering cases on the plastic users, he added.
