Visakhapatnam: A 52-year-old shepherd died, along with 20 sheep, after a speeding car knocked them down at Bodumetlapalem under Bheemili police limits in the early hours of Sunday. According to sources, the deceased was identified as M Ramu (52), a shepherd and resident of Bheemili.

The accident took place when he was coming to Sunday market at Bheemili, along with his herd, after reaching Bidumetlapalem Junction, while crossing the national highway at 2 am on Sunday, a speeding car, which is coming from Vizianagaram and proceeding towards Visakhapatnam, rammed the herd and shepherd and as a result he, along with 20 sheep, died on the spot.

The highway patrolling team informed the Bheemili police about the mishap. In turn, they rushed to the spot and shifted the body to KGH for autopsy. Speaking to The Hans India, Bheemili Sub-Inspector N Vasu Naidu said as the accident occurred in the early hours, nobody noticed the car number. Hence, police watching the CCTV footage to trace the car. Later, police registered a case and took up investigation.
