Amalapuram: The sea at Vodalarevu village of Allavaram mandal in East Godavari district is creating panic among the people as it has surged into the village by 100 metres and the continuous roar of the tidal waves is reported to be unnerving for many residents.

The sea started surging into the village from Thursday last and is continuing. The low-lying areas and aqua ponds are inundated and there is land erosion from Samudra resorts. Many trees fell, and tourists were not coming to Vodalarevu as sea remained choppy.

The Delta Pari Rakshana Samithi is alleging that surging of sea waters is a phenomenon that occurs because of oil and gas explorations in Konaseema.

A Lakshman Rao, a villager, said they are spending sleepless nights due to surging of sea into the village. Meanwhile, Uppada Kothapalli and Moolapeta villages near Kakinada are also facing the similar problem.
