Kakinada: Joint Collector Mallikarjuna has underlined the need to reduce road accidents in the district as the number of accidents are increasing in the district.

Officials of Transport and Police departments should work with coordination in this regard, he said.

Reviewing the implementation of road safety measures with the officials at Collectorate, he said the over speeding lorries and other vehicles should be curtailed which was the need of the hour.

Moreover, there should be constant vigil on the roads, mainly on national highway which was passing through the district in a length of 150 kms.

As it was the important road between Kolkata and Chennai, many vehicles, mainly lorries were moving on a massive scale with high speed on the national highway.

The officials should arrange traffic signals and sign boards at all important points to avoid accidents. It was the time to bring awareness among people on road rules.
