Vijayawada: The city witnessed light to moderate rainfall in the early hours of Friday. Over 15 mm rainfall was registered across Krishna district. Rain water stagnated several areas in the city as the storm drains remained incomplete at many places.

The perennial troubling areas like Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road where the storm drains are under construction were inundated. Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner J Nivas visited waterlogged areas in the city and monitored the situation. Motors were pressed into service to pump the stagnated rainwater.

The Commissioner visited MG Road, IGM Stadium, Madhura Nagar Junction, Nirmala High School Road Junction, Christurajapuram Road, Eluru Road, Chuttugunta and other parts of the city and monitored the situation. The logged rain water was diverted to side drains at most of the places.

The rain, which started in the early hours fizzled out by 8 am letting everyone move on to the roads. Storm water drainage works were going on at most of the places in the city which was one of the reasons for water logging in the city. Rain water logging on the roads creating inconvenience to people.
