Eluru: Speaking at a meeting on ‘dairy farmers and government policies’ held here under the aegis of AP Rytu Sangham on Sunday, the participants demanded that the government pay Rs 10 extra per litre on the minimum price of procurement.

A pamphlet on protest scheduled to be held at Vijaya Dairy in Bhimadolu on August 23 was released at the meeting. The protest was planned to seek remunerative price for the milk supplied by the dairy farmers.

The farmers alleged that there was no difference in the prices of drinking water and milk.

The sangham upland district secretary, K Srinivas flayed both the Central and state governments for their failure to come to the rescue of the dairy farmer.

He said that the rearing cattle had become a herculean task because of increased prices feed and non-availability of fodder.

The farmers had suffered loss because of cattle rearing in support of their agricultural activity, he added.
