Akiveedu: Tahsildar and Akiveedu Special Officer Nagarjuna Reddy inspected low-lying areas which inundated in recent rains on Friday.

He visited Chenchula Colony near Samata Nagar road along with Assistant Executive Engineer Ataf Pasha. Rain water entered the colony.

They inspected Chinakapavaram drain. The special officer enquired about details of flow in the drain and water discharge rate from Upputeru into the sea.

The engineer informed him that six to seven cusecs of water was entering the sea from Upputeru. The water level during flow into sea was 1.5 metre high compared to usual water level.

He asked the officials to take appropriate steps by monitoring water level and situation at canal bunds.

Stating that there was no flood threat to Chenchula Colony as of now, the special officer promised them to shift them to safer places, if necessary.

Later, Reddy visited panchayat office and reviewed sanitation in Akiveedu. He wanted the officials to take up measures to clear drainages in order to prevent contagious diseases.

He asked the staff to spray bleaching at necessary places and restrict pigs from wandering in the village. He also instructed the staff to clean drinking water and supply through taps.
