Support for Kerala flood victims lauded
Zilla Parishad ZP Chairperson Girvani handed over a cheque of Rs 409 lakh to District Collector PS Pradyumna here on Saturday
Chittoor: Zilla Parishad (ZP) Chairperson Girvani handed over a cheque of Rs 40.9 lakh to District Collector PS Pradyumna here on Saturday.
The amount was donated towards the relief operations of the flood-ravaged Kerala.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector appreciated the students, employees, pensioners and all other sections of the society for responding to his call of contributing donations to extending support for flood victims.
He stated a three truck-load of essentials were dispatched to Kerala. On Friday, DEO Pandu Rangaiah handed over a cheque of Rs 50.5 lakh to the Collector towards flood relief fund of the Kerala government.
On the occasion, the ZP chief gave a call for industrialists and businessmen to lend support for the flood-hit Kerala.
Girvani said that she would collect donations from the ZPTCs and MPTCs. ZP CEO Ravi Naidu and others were present.
