Anantapur: The CPI and CPM parties launched a 7-district 'Awareness Jatara for Political Alternative' here on Wednesday. Two busloads of leaders and cultural troupes have embarked on a 7-district massive awareness campaign. Speaking exclusively to The Hans India on the occasion, CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna said that the Jatara would culminate in Vijayawada on September 11.
Another Jatara headed by CPM State secretary P Madhu would commence in Visakhapatnam on September 1 and cover the 7 coastal districts right from Srikakulam to Krishna and it would also culminate in Vijayawada on September 11 where a massive public meeting will be organised.
The Vijayawada show on September 11 would set the tone for joint political campaigns involving the Left parties and the Jana Sena party. Post Vijayawada show, there would be joint rallies of the Left leaders along with Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.
This combination dubbed as the Third Front would start reaching out to people in a couple of months and present themselves as a viable alternative to the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party in the State. Ramakrishna said both these parties headed by two families are no different from each other and are like the two sides of the same coin.
No common man who is a political aspirant can contest election from these two parties as they give tickets to only moneyed people who can spend crores of rupees, the CPI leader said. This makes political arena inaccessible to poor aspirants, he added.
Speaking on a common agreed agenda, Ramakrishna said the Left parties and Pawan Kalyan share a common viewpoint on core issues which include striving for justice for the deprived sections. The combine also shared the view that common man was deprived of the fruits of welfare schemes and regional imbalances persisted during the regimes of both the Congress and TDP governments.
The Third Front will present itself as a political alternative to the two capitalist parties, he said. “During our political Jatara, mass awareness will be created among the common people on why a third alternative is the need of the hour.
The old must go and a new political culture should emerge involving youth leadership at all levels,” Ramakrisha said. He exuded confidence that the Vijayawada Show would influence state politics and set the tone for a change.
