Kakinada: Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the rural road connectivity and provision of drinking water were being given top priority in the current financial year. While Rs 22,000 crore has been allocated for roads, rural drinking water was allocated Rs 11, 00 crore. On execution, the two sectors are expected to get a big boost to amenities in the entire state in villages, the finance minister said.

Reviewing the allocations and the mode of time-frame for spending the funds at a review meet organised at his camp office in Timmapuram in Kakinada rural on Friday, Yanamala said that apart from these two, allocations for some other sectors would have to be spent by December 2018.

The finance minister revealed the details of allocations to other sectors too. According to him, Rs 11,000 crore has been allocated BC welfare, Rs 9,000 crore for SC sub-plan and Rs 4,000 crore for ST sub-plan in the current financial year.

Yanamala also announced that Rs 406 crore was being spent for the welfare of 71,000 BCs and Rs 210 crore for the benefit of 21,000 through Kapu Corporation.

He said that all the residential hostels in the state would be converted into residential schools. The finance minister also announced the allocations to various developmental activities in Tuni Assembly constituency in East Godavari.
