Vijayawada: Mylavaram police arrested a 45-year-old pastor Manda Samuel of Velagaleru village of G Konduru mandal for beating a woman and allegedly eloping with her 21-year-old daughter. According to Mylavaram police, Metropolitan Church pastor Manda Samuel had developed a relationship with a woman (21) who was going to the church for prayers.

On getting to know about the alleged affair, he was shifted to her uncle’s residence at Ganapavaram village by her mother on August 29. Enraged over the decision taken by the mother of the 21-year-old, pastor Samuel went to the house at Ganapavaram and beat up the woman and forcibly took her daughter away to an unknown place.

Frightened after the attack on her, the woman lodged a complaint with Mylavaram police, who registered a case and began probe on August 29. Sub-Inspector Ramakrishna said the police arrested the accused pastor Manda Samuel on Sunday and produced him before the magistrate in Mylavaram. The accused was sent to judicial custody. The police booked case against the pastor under sections 452, 323 and 506 for beating and intimidating the mother of the young woman.
