Guntur: Director General of Police R P Thakur said that police should maintain cordial relations with people to get name and fame to the department. Inaugurating a police petrol bunk set up in Guntur city on Monday, the DGP warned he would not spare any police if they were found misbehaving with people coming to lodge complaints at police stations.

Thakur said that he would give top priority to public safety and assured that the he will take care of police welfare also. He said that the department has set up a petrol bunk in Guntur city to supply quality petrol and maintain accuracy in measurements.

He said profits on the petrol bunk would be used for police welfare and added that AR SI, two constables and 12 workers will maintain the petrol bunk. He said the department aimed to plant 10 lakh saplings and so far planted 12 lakh saplings and geo-tagged.

Later, DGP wife Amita Thakur distributed dress to eight students residing in the Guntur urban police boys hostel. South Coastal Zone Guntur Range Inspector General of Police K V V Gopala Rao, Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao, Rural SP Ch Venkata Appala Naidu, in-charge collector AMD Imtiaz, Municipal Corporation commissioner Srikesh B Lathkar and IOC AP&T states chief divisional manger Srinivasa Rao were present.
