Srikakulam: The shortage of textbooks supply at government schools from Class-I to Class-X is affecting the quality teaching. Even after completion of three months period in the current academic year, the government is unable to supply textbooks.
The state has 45,230 schools. In each class, at least textbooks for two subjects are yet to be supplied and notebooks are also not supplied sufficiently based on the number of students in schools. The Hans India, observed that Class-X physical science textbooks are not supplied at Kasibugga high school in Palasa mandal.
Class-VII and IX science subject books are also not supplied at Thadivalasa high school in Ponduru mandal. Class-IX Telugu textbooks are also not supplied at Tholapi high school in Ponduru mandal. Class-IX English textbooks are also not supplied at Kesavarayunipalem high school in Laveru mandal. In all, the school books are not supplied sufficiently on par with number of students.
“We are procuring old books from the previous students to continue teaching as government books are not supplied sufficiently at all schools,” AP Upadhyaya Sangham (APUS), AP Teachers Federation (APTF), Democratic Teachers Federation (DTF) leaders, Duppala Sivarama Krishna, Sannasetti Rajasekhar, Pedada Krishna Rao told this newspaper.
“We have supplied 2.32 crore textbooks across the state for this academic year to all government schools and distribution closed on July 30,” state-level textbooks wing joint director MV Krishna Reddy told The Hans India over phone. “We are supplying books to all schools across the district based on their requirements,” District Education Officer Srikakulam, M Sai Ram told this newspaper.
