Vijayawada: Sri Sarveswara Natya Mandali, Gudivada, in association with Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh organised a three-day mythological drama festival ‘Krishnam Vende Jagadgurum’ at Veledandla Hanumantharaya Grandhalayam in Vijayawada from September 1 to 3.

The festival began with “Sri Krishnarjuna Yuddam” and the next day “Sri Krishna Tulabharam” was staged. On the final day another verse play “Sri Krishna Rayabaram” was performed.

The artistes, T Baburaju, K Warier, Narsingrao, Apparao, Dr PLK Sarma, Nama Suryavardhana Reddy, Prakash Sarma, Surya Prakash, P Mangapathi, T Ramu, Dr Prabhudas, P Anjaneyulu, K Penchalaiah, Bala Nageswara Rao, Sudarshan, LVR Giridhar, Rammohan, K Yadagiri Chary, Ramulu Seth, B Srinivasa Rao, A Venkatesh, Ramalakshmi Surabhi and Dr Jandhyala Subbulakshmi performed in these three dramas.

Surabhi Subhash supported with makeup and T Rajababu rendered musical support and also directed these plays.

Though the organisers announced that the plays would start in the evening at 7, not a single programme on either of the days started on time.

The lovers of verse drama commented that the plays should have been performed with good sets and lighting as they had gotten financial support from Government of AP.
