Vijayawada: The members of Sagara community participated in ‘Sagara Bhagiratha Deeksha’, demanding that the State government recommend the Central government to include Sagara Community into ST category.
BC JAC state president Buddha Nageswara Rao participated in the Deeksha in support of Sagara community members at Dharna Chowk here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Nageswara Rao said that there was no improvement in the living standards of about 20 lakh Sagara community people.
Most of the community members work as construction labour, agricultural labour and were lagging behind financially, politically, socially and educationally, he said.
Honorary president Tadishetty Nageswara Rao, secretary Nakka Srinivas Rao, Guntur former mayor Tadishetty Muralimohan, T Ramakrishna, M Durgarao, N Satyanarayana and members from across the state were present.
