Anantapur: In a sharp reaction to Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy describing policemen as hijras, Anantapur Police Officers' Association secretary Gorantla Madhav on Thursday warned him and the other people's representatives that if they did not mend their ways, the police would cut their tongues.

The MP, referring to the "attack" on his followers by those of Swami Prabhodananda in Tadipatri on Wednesday, accused the police of running away from the scene without providing any security to his supporters.

Gorantla Madhav, twirling his moustache before media persons, said that they were all real men and that they would hit back if any one tried to denigrate them or demoralise them. "If you act in an eccentric way, we will teach you a lesson," he said.

Madhav, along with his other colleagues Triloknath and Suri, demanded that Diwakar Reddy should withdraw his comments. He said all politicians - whether they belong to TDP or YSRCP - were alike and they should keep in mind that the police were not there to provide protection to them, but to act impartially and prevent breakdown of law and order.
