Giddalur: The Manoj Charitable Trust in Prakasam district organised boulder pulling competition for bulls in Badinenipalle of Komarole muandal on Tuesday, as part of the observation of Moharram.

The trust president, Kamuri Ramanareddy and the villagers felicitated the chief guest Shaik Himamsa, the first person from Prakasam district to scale Mountain Everest.

Ramanareddy said that Himamsa was an icon and inspiration for youth and felicitating him was a responsibility for him to encourage youth to achieve more success.

Himamsa said that it was a pride moment to be the first person from the district to climb Everest. He thanked the government administration for extending all support.

After special prayers at the Peerlachavidi, the rock pulling competition was inaugurated by the chief guest.

While 16 pairs of the bulls from various districts participated in the competition, Ramanareddy offered Rs 40,000 as the prize for winners, Rs 20,000 for first runners up and Rs 10,000 for the second runners up.

The community leaders from the Komarole mandal including Kamuri Srinivasa Reddy, Palugulla Narayana Reddy, former ZPTC Venkatanayudu, Vengaiah Chowdary, district Noor Basha committee president and secretary Shaik Mastan Vali, Meera Mohiddin and others also participated in the programme.
