Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) had a record sale of 5,13,566 laddus on Sunday. This is the highest number of laddus sold so far in TTD history.

It was laudable on the part of TTD management for ensuring no scarcity of laddus to the devotees despite the unprecedented crowd the hill shrine is witnessing for the last three days.

It was the delicious Laddu Prasadam that the devotees crave to have more of course only after darshan of Lord Venkateswara. Crossing four lakh mark in laddu sale in a day is rare in the famed Tirumala temple history. On October 10, 2016, the TTD sold 4,64,152 laddus while it was 4,32,745 in May 28, 2017 and 4,11,943 in June 11 same year.

This year May 19 also 4,14,987 laddus were sold by TTD. About 600 contract workers belonging to Vaishnava community were engaged in the preparation of the delicious laddus which has an inimitable and distinct taste, working 20 hours in three shifts daily to enable the TTD fulfill the huge demand from the devotees. The TTD made elaborate arrangements for the sale of laddus round-the-clock through 64 counters at Tirumala.

Interestingly, the contractor workers though they prepare laddus have no privilege to get the laddus in concessional rate like the regular employees of TTD who get 10 laddus at Rs 5 each every month.
