Vijayawada: Blood donation should be the moral responsibility of everyone, said District Medical and Health Officer Dr I Ramesh.
He was chief guest at the blood donation camp organised jointly by KBN college youth, Red Cross Society and NSS unit on the college premises on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ramesh said that many people die due to shortage of blood across the world in spite of widespread awareness campaigns on blood donation.
He opined that with the same inspiration everyone should come forward to donate blood.
Red Cross district chairman Dr Sridhar Reddy said that the Red Cross Society was conducting awareness programmes and organising widespread campaigning on donating blood across the district.
He appealed to the youth to come forward and participate in blood donation camps.
He said that as part of the week-long blood donation camp, about 2,000 people would participate in the mega blood donation camp on Friday.
The college president, V Hemachandra Rao, secretary T Srinivas, principal Dr V Narayana Rao, medical and health department officer Dr Usha Rani and others were present.
