Ongole: The Sarannavaratri celebrations at the Vasavi Kanyakaparameswari temple in Ongole started from Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the first day in the celebrations, the goddess was dressed in the attire of Balatripurasundari Devi. The goddess was offered abhishekam with cow milk in the morning, before the customary initiation of the Navaratri celebrations.

Later, the Vigneswara Puja and Samuhika Puja with 30 couples were performed. In the evening, the pundits involved the devotees in bhajans and other devotional programmes.

The Vasavi Kanyakaparameswari Tadiyaradhana Sangham representatives Radhayya and Radharamana Gupta Jandhyam said that the goddess will bless the devotees in the attire of Rajarajeswari Devi on Thursday, Kasi Annapurna Devi on Friday, Gajalakshmi on Saturday, Saraswati Devi on Sunday, Parvati Devi on Monday, Vasavi Matha on Tuesday, Kanakadurga Devi on Wednesday and Mahishasura Mardhini on the next Thursday.

The members asked the devotees to participate in the pujas in large number and receive the blessings of the mother goddess.
