Uniforms distributed to girls in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Chapter of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (AP-IRIA) distributed uniforms to 86 students to celebrate the ‘International Day of the Girl Child,’ at Sundaramma Municipal Girls High School here on Thursday.
City Mayor Koneru Sridhar was the chief guest of the programme and said that the VMC was supporting the children of the municipal schools by giving financial incentives and scholarships to the merit students who excelled in the exams.
Dr GV Mohan Prasad, president AP State Radiologists Association announced scholarships to two meritorious students every year and also promised to organise health camps and awareness programmes to the school-going girl children.
Corporator Uttam Chand Bhandari requested the radiology doctors to sponsor special classes in English language proficiency for school children.
Radiology Association of AP secretary Kishore Kumar, Coordinator Varaprasad, Treasurer B N Prasad, former president T Rajeswararao, Vijayawada Chapter president Dr Rajakumar, secretary Dr SeshuLakshmi and others were present.
