Vijayawada: Goddess Durga temple had witnessed heavy rush on Saturday as a large number of devotees visited the temple since early hours on the day.

Expecting heavy rush on Saturday and Sunday, the officials made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of devotees.

As second Saturday is a holiday for government offices and educational institutions, hundreds of devotees thronged the temple.

By evening 7 pm more than 70,000 devotees had the darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga atop Indrakeeladri hill.

The presiding deity has been decorated as Sri Lalita Tripura Sundari Devi.

The rush of devotees continued from morning to evening as queue lines moved comfortably without hindrances. Free queue line moved comfortably compared to the VIP line.

Devotees waited 15 to 30 minutes in VIP line to enter the main queue. But, the free lines passed smoothly till evening along the ghat road.

On Saturday, Rs 100 and Rs 300 queue lines continued. The VIP and Rs 300 queue lines will be cancelled on Sunday, the day of Moola Nakshatram and will be made as free queue lines for the convenience of devotees.

Antaralayam Darshan will be cancelled on Sunday and devotees with Rs 100 ticket will be allowed for ‘Mukha Dwara Darshanam’ only.
