Vijayawada: 65-year-old Senior Ophthalmologist and Aravinda Eye Hospital head Dr Velagapudi Sambasiva Rao, died of a heart attack in the early hours of Friday.
Friends, relatives, doctors, leaders were saddened on hearing the news of his demise.
He has been serving as an ophthalmologist in Vijayawada for the last 28 years and has performed more than one lakh eye surgeries creating a record.
Aravinda Eye clinic was inaugurated by the then AP Governor K Krishnakanth in 1990. He is a senior ophthalmologist and was a lifetime member of Indian Ophthalmology Society.
He had organised many free eye camps through Satya Sai Seva Organisation, Lions club and Rotary Club. His last rites will be held on October 28.
