Bhimavaram turns hub of criminal activity
Of late, Bhimavaram town has become a hub for criminal activity as there has been a sharp rise in number of rowdysheeters
Bhimavaram: Of late, Bhimavaram town has become a hub for criminal activity as there has been a sharp rise in number of rowdy-sheeters.
The town has three police stations viz Bhimavaram One Town, Two Town and Rural. As many as 142 rowdy-sheeters present under the limits of these police stations. Whereas the number of rowdy-sheeters under the jurisdiction of Narsapuram DSP is 67, the total number of rowdy-sheeters in Narsapuram division account for 209. All these 67 history sheeters falls under the purview of 16 police stations.
With the rapid expansion of the town, the number of crimes in Bhimavaram has also increased. The rise in crime rate can be attributed to settlements of real estate and aquaculture sectors. The disputes in settlements have paved the way for murders and other crimes.
Interestingly, the police have been facing criticism from people that they were concentrating more on raids on cricket betting dens, gambling centres, clubs and cockfights giving little priority for the criminal activities.
Intelligence, Octopus and Special Branch police apart from cops working under the police stations have failed to curtail the crime rate and criminals. If they put in serious efforts to contain crime, the town would become peaceful area. However, going by the number of criminals, the town can be termed as hyper sensitive area, the people opine.
