Visakhapatnam: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested 14 persons on Wednesday night on the charge of attack and set fire to Araku Valley Circle police stations.

The SIT which has been dealing with the case, identified the accused over a month after the violent mob attacked and set the police stations to fire, in a protest against the gunning down of Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former Araku MLA Siveri Soma by the Maoists on September 23.
The accused were also produced before the Sub Court at Chodavaram in the district here on Thursday, and the court has sent them to remand till November 13.

Sources in police said that the SIT had interrogated over 120 persons in connection with the arson of the police station. With the available evidence and primary eye-witnesses, the SIT led by its IPS officer Rahul Dev Sharma arrested 14 persons.

A senior police officer on condition of anonymity said that they would nab few more people in this connection and the investigation is on to identify few more persons who have supported the Maoists for killing the TD leaders.
