ABVP faults ANU in paper valuation

Ongole: The Prakasam district unit of Akhila Bharateeya Vidyarthi Parishad protested in front of the district Collectorate here on Monday, demanding that the government intervene and save the students from the ‘negligence and money mindedness’ of the Acharya Nagarjuna University.
The ABVP district secretary T Hanumanthu said that 49,686 out of the 92,173 students who appeared for the semesters I, III and V exams were announced failed by the university.
He alleged that it is due to the pressure on the valuators by the VC Rajendra Prasad, who wanted to announce the results before he retire from the position.
He alleged that the VC ordered the valuators to correct 150 papers daily, instead of 30 papers they were supposed to do.
Hanumanthu also alleged that the university had collected Rs 25 crore in the name of revaluation fees from the UG and PG students in the last five years.
He said that the university is charging Rs 935 for revaluation and Rs 1200 for the photocopy of the answer sheet. He demanded that the government should order an inquiry by the CID and prosecute the valuators, who failed to correct the papers and the chief examiner for negligence in duty.
He demanded that the university revaluate the answer sheets of all students who failed in the exams now or they would go to the Human Rights Commission and file a PIL in the High Court for action on all of the university staff that is responsible for the mass failure of students.
The ABVP leaders Naveen, Ashok, Rajasekhar, Venkatesh, Shareef, Prabhu Kumar, Santosh and others also participated in the protest at the Collectorate.
