Dwaraka Tirumala: The management of Balaji temple here started selling dung cakes (Pidakalu) made of cow dung for the convenience of the devotees who want to celebrate Sankranthi by burning the dung cakes.

The dung is collected from Cow shelter of the temple. Keeping in view the advent of Dhanurmasam, the temple management has decided to keep the dung cakes on sale to the devotees.

The price of dung cakes was fixed at Rs 100 for 25 pieces and they would be sold at Anisetti Mandapam on the temple premises.

Traditionally, these dung cakes would be used to prepare bon fire during the month long celebrations.

Temple executive officer Dantuluri Peddiraju said that the devotees believe that burning of cow dung cakes was auspicious during Dhanurmasam.
