Amaravati: The Telugu Desam Party is preparing to use Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru (JBMV) as its vehicle to carry out the message of good that the state had done for the people to win them over ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections for which notification is expected in February next.

Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is giving a lot of importance to JBMV, hoping that it would deliver the desired results. Till last year, the JBMV used to be conducted as a mere ritual where the officials used to take the grievances of the people. But now, the entire approach of the JBMV has changed from a routine programme to a political programme.

The focus will be on educating public on development that has taken place in the last four and half years. "There will be debates and discussions on each development activity that had taken place in the local areas," says Social Welfare Minister Nakka Ananda Babu.

Naidu’s cabinet also approved releasing 10 white papers during the JBMV from January 2. In addition to that, the Chief Minister is likely to release a vision plan for 2019-24. The state government and TDP leaders have been preparing vision documents which are village, mandal, Assembly constituency, district and state specific which would be based on the feedback from the public. The TDP president directed the party leaders to take advantage of the JBMV to speed up the ongoing party membership drive. The party had set a target of more than one crore membership this time, which is around 64 lakh as on 2016.

"All the MLAs and those in charge of Assembly constituencies have been asked to actively participate in all public programmes till the elections are over," Ananda Babu said. Before the commencement of the JBMV, the party has planned to organize ‘Jayaho BC’ in a grand manner to give an impression that it has retained its traditional BC support intact.

The Jayaho BC will be organized on December 30 at Rajamahendravaram and before that the district-level BC conventions will be completed. Since Chandrababu Naidu has said that he will announce the names of the MLA candidates well in advance, probably in the month of January itself, all the aspiring candidates have been actively participating in the party programmes to get into his good books.
