Tadipatri (Anantapur): A police party headed by Circle Inspector Hameed Khan from Kadapa and constables Narendra Reddy, Prasad Reddy and Pradeep, who came to nab a gangster involved in matka cases in Kadapa district, were attacked on Sunday late night by one Rasheed a kingpin in matka activities and his gang members. In the attack, CI and three constables sustained bleeding injuries.

The gangsters even set fire to a vehicle belonging to the Kadapa police. The attackers are allegedly supporters of local MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy, according to YSRCP Tadipatri coordinator Kethireddy Peddareddy, who accused the local MLA of engineering the attack. The incident occurred late night on Sunday.

The local police, who are in the dark on the Kadapa police visit to Tadipatri, rushed to the spot after learning of the attack and admitted the injured policemen in the hospital and are investigating into the attack. The police registered a case against Rasheed on the basis of a complaint lodged by the constables.
