Vijayawada: In a shocking incident, Coastal Bank chairman and noted businessman Chigurupati Jayaram was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a car near Itavaram village of Nandigama mandal in Krishna district on Friday. The body was lying in the back seat of the car with injuries on the head.

The police found liquor bottles in the car and are trying to get information why the car was in an abandoned condition along the roadside and on the whereabouts of the driver. The colour of the deceased body also changed raising various doubts. The clues team was pressed into action.

According to Nandigama DSP Subhash Chandrabose, the deceased, Jayaram, had come to Vijayawada two days ago and was accompanied by car driver. The DSP said the information on who was the driver of the car at the time of the death and whom Jayaram met in Vijayawada is not yet known.

He said that as per the CCTV footage available at the toll gates the car was driven by a driver and not by Jayaram. He said the police would carry out probe to identify the cause for the death of the businessman.

Chigurupati Jayaram belonged to Tenali in Guntur district. He was born in a middle class family and gradually became chairman of Coastal Bank and MD of Express TV news channel. It is learnt that he possessed share in a bank in the United States besides pharma business and glass industry. His family members are living in Florida, USA. In all, the police formed four teams to unravel the mystery behind the death of Jayaram.
